The Northwest part of Spain has some of the most unique, exciting things going on in the whole country at this time…maybe in the world. The Mencía grape is Spain’s answer to Burgundy’s Pinot Noir, and they are treating it as such by letting the terroir (sense of place) speak for itself. Couple that with one of the most diverse, exciting white grapes in the world, Godello, and you have a match made in heaven. These six wines are an amazing example of the spectrum of these two grapes. Three reds and three whites – four made within a stone’s throw of each other, and two made just a hop, skip and a jump to the neighboring wine region. This equates to one amazing wine drinking experience.
